Bridges Community Action Partnership

Bridges Community Action Partnership is a private nonprofit community action agency dedicated to helping and serving low-income individuals and families in Delaware, Madison, Union, Shelby, Champaign, and Logan counties. Bridges helps improve the lives of individuals and families by providing a variety of programs and assistance with utilities, home improvement, family development, work resources, safe housing, financial education, and medical needs:

Bridges was established as a community action agency in 1965 as a result of the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964—part of President Johnson’s War On Poverty. There are community action agencies in all 88 counties in Ohio, and there are over 1,000 agencies across the nation.

Funding for our services and operations is derived from competitive federal, state, local, and private grants. Bridges administers the Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) for our service area, which provides administrative and operational funding, client outreach, information and referral services, and emergency services. Other funding sources include the Home Weatherization Assistance Program (HWAP), the Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP), local United Ways, private foundations, utility companies, and donations.

Bridges has 501(c)3 tax-exempt status from the IRS. Bridges’ Union County customer service center located in Marysville, Ohio, and we operate customer service centers in each of the counties we serve.

Ohio Association of Community Action Agencies

Bridges is a proud member of the Ohio Association of Community Action Agencies, which represents 50 agencies around the state serving the needs of low-income people in all of Ohio’s 88 counties for more than 50 years. Community action agencies provide education and training, emergency services, and other assistance programs to over 800,000 Ohioans annually, administering more than $480 million in resources and employing more than 6,000 people. OACAA serves and supports local community action agencies to make sure that they are the leaders in serving and empowering their respective individuals, families, and communities.
